Israel Trek In cooperation with the Israeli Shetach organization students in this program will follow the footsteps of our forefathers, hiking the Land of Israel from North to South, living in the field and learning to survive and thrive in a native environment. Graduates of Israel Trek will be fully qualified in areas such as survival, tracking, field studies, navigation and night navigation, and will, through a rigorous curriculum of academic study, gain an in-depth understanding of environmental issues, water, archeology, geology, geomorphology, history and basic and advanced life-saving skills. The instructors of Israel Trek are among the world’s experts in their respective fields, many of whom have served in Israel’s elite military units for many years and are responsible for the creation and revolution in the Israel Defense Forces survival and tracking training systems. Program Director: Nir Gur Israel Tour Guide Training Seminar In cooperation with the Israel Ministry of Tourism (pending) students in this special program will follow the rigorous 450 academic hour training curriculum of the Ministry’s official Tour Guide Course. Graduates of Israel – A Land of Wonder will be certified by the Galilee Institute and the State of Israel as fully trained Virtual Tour Guides and will be licensed by the Institute and the State to represent Israel Tourism in the Diaspora (licence pending). Graduates who decide to make Aliyah will be qualified to sit for the demanding State Tour Guide exam after a short individualized refresher course at the Institute. The Galilee Institute’s future guides will have visited Israel from the Hermon to Eilat and will have become intimately acquainted with the history of The Land its People while closely examining her archaeology, religions, flora and fauna, geography, art and architecture. Graduates of this program will gain fluency in Middle Eastern societies and the state, economy and government of Israel and will gain basic knowledge in areas such as survival, tracking, field studies, navigation and night navigation, environmental issues, water, geology, geomorphology and basic lifesaving skills. Zionist Leadership Training Seminar In cooperation with the leadership of the Jewish Agency, the UJC and the Conference of President’s of Major American Jewish Organizations (pending) , this one semester program is designed only for the elite of the elite – those who want to be the future leaders of the Zionist world. Graduates of the Galilee Institute’s Zionist Leadership Training Seminar will have gained an unprecedented understanding of the complex history of the Zionist movement as well as the seemingly impenetrable Zionist systems of today. Graduates will be qualified to step into leadership roles in their local federations with a deep-rooted appreciation for the crucial role they play in the lives of Jews everywhere. They will also be fluent in issues relating to Middle Eastern societies and the state, economy and government of Israel and will gain basic knowledge in areas such as environmental issues, water, geology, geomorphology and the basics of Israel Tourism. During the course of study, students will have the opportunity to hear from many of the significant leaders of today while sharing time discussing and debating the many complex issues with their peers in Israeli academic institutions and the directors of programs funded and supported by the UJC. The Land of Judaism Jewish learning is emerging as a powerful force in contemporary culture, fostering identity and unity among Jews. Yesterday’s challenge was to get people interested in Jewish learning. Today we must also find new and creative ways to service those that already are. In cooperation with the TorahLab Foundation The Galilee Institute’s Land of Judaism program introduces students of all affiliations to the study of Judaism in a new and innovative fashion that not only stimulates the mind, but provides graduates with original tools to continue to grow in their own knowledge and be able to pass on that knowledge to their friends, family, colleagues, peers and community. The Land of Judaism is based on the fact that:
The Land of Judaism takes an in-depth look at the continuous historical connection between Jewish civilization and the Land of Israel through a comprehensive study of Jewish History and Jewish Philosophy along with a far- reaching exploration of the breadth and depth of Judaism. Students will explore empirical records from the Patriarchs through the Holocaust and will gain a broad perspective which will allow for the assessing of the relevant issues affecting the Jewish people and the modern State of Israel today. Program Director: Rabbi Yaacov Haber The Galilee Institute’s Free Fellowship Program A full-semester of study on a topic of importance to the Jewish people, the Zionist enterprise and the State of Israel. Students in this program will be selected on an individual basis and will be required to complete a major research study along with the Galilee Institute’s required curriculum of Israel studies. The Galilee Institute/TorahLab Learning Kollel The Galilee Institute/TorahLab Kollel curriculum will present a comprehensive course of study for exploring the breadth and depth of Judaism and its relevance to the State of Israel. This rare combination of personality affords our scholars the ability to reach, teach and invigorate friends of all ages. |
